Event project manager play an integral role in making an event fun and more importantly, memorable. There are certainly some qualities that a good event manager should have and according to a recent survey, there are actually three qualities that a good host must possess: creativity, open-mindedness, and drive.
In this article, I will explain those three things to help you become the best event manager in your area.
1. Having the Drive is Key
When a person does something that requires a lot of planning and preparation, they will always need some form of motivation to keep them going.
According to statistics, the best quality that an event manager should have is drive. Without it, a common event host will just be that, a commoner.
Having the drive or passion in making sure that every event is memorable is something that is always desired in an event manager. That is because it is just so hard to make something memorable if it isn’t borne out of someone’s genuine desire. For the person to have the right dedication, they must frequently ask themselves pertinent questions that will help improve the event in any way possible.
Such questions include what the root of the problem is, coming up with the solutions to solve event problems, and what new ways will help entice you to continue on with what you’re doing?
Let’s face it, we start with a lot of motivation only for that enthusiasm to fade in time. So, be sure to always ask yourself these questions to help keep your drive at maximum capacity.
2. Being the Leader
Another key quality that an event manager should have is Resourcefulness. Once you are given the tools, a product is only unique if you know how to maximize what you have.
Resourcefulness is just like that. How are you, as the event manager, going to exceed expectations with the resources that you currently possess?
Most successful planners would bend the traditional rules being followed by other organizers, apply personal experiences that can help elevate the guest’s experiences, ask for evaluation and feedback, and being open to adapt to possible new changes.
Being the leader and being resourceful is definitely something that an event manager should have.
3. Being Versatile
Being a one-trick pony is not something good when it comes to planning for future events. Being versatile, on the other hand, is another quality that you should possess.
You see, no matter how prepared you think you are, there will always be some things that might go off the rails.
For example, some of the lights that you’ve utilized might end up burnt out and not fit for use. Or, the foods and drinks that you offered do not feed all of your guests as you’ve failed to account for their peers as well.
Being versatile is about having the patience, the ability to use time effectively, and always coming up with a backup plan. Do not be one-sided; see things from multiple perspectives.
